Day 2 and things could be better

The Rally has started and things could be better. I told you so I hear so many of you cry. Well balls to that. We left hyde park and although I was sad to see so many of my favourite people getting smaller in the mirrors as we steamed off the exitement at what lay ahead was also tangable. Turns out that the first excitement was had just south of the river when we pulled into Kwick Fit for the dude there to have a look at our now blowing exhaust. They did some strokey bearding and decided to stick some glue on it and gave us a big pot to stick on ourselves. So we gave them a box of Roses and steamed off once again. The glue did the trick and we made Cologne Germany after a little trip on the Chunnel and about 6 hours driving. The Trip through France and belgium was nice as we were overtaken by most everything including lots of fellow ralliers beeping horn and hanging out of windows like chimps.
Was good to be back in Cologne after living there in the past though we were too bushed to go out and it was past midnight when we got there. Still Stu and I emptied his fridge and I got to bed about 4am (probably why I slept through my alarm and we left super late, but don't tell Earl :-D) was a nice way to finish day one, though going to bed did make me a little home/claire sick.
Day 2 and wait for it , it is comming. We made Frankfurt in about 3 hours and were chugging along quite nicely when a loud bang was heared followed by a noise that sounded like someone tiping cuttlery from a moving vehicle. A large black could enveloped the poor souls following us and the Jeep rolled to a halt. We hoped out and had an expert look at what the trouble could be. it was obvious even to Earl (once he stopped picking his nose) that glue was not going to work this time. The engine bay was full of oil and a mangled piston was poking through the engine case :-( so it's safe to say that engine is dead. We called the RAC (zee german one) and sat watching hot fuzz till they arrived. Now rescued we are zooming round in a Citroen Xara Picasso (also now stickered up :-D) and trying to source new engine by the morning. We've found 2 and will probably buy both as experience has shown a spare engine is a good Idea when driving an SJ anywhere.
Bummer we missed the Prague party but we'll make up for it along the way I'm sure.

take is easy people a word to your mother

Some folk can't recognise Good Luck when it slaps them in the crankcase. When the wheels are guaranteed to fall off somewhere, where better on your route than a cosy corner bristling with Beer Gartens? Perhaps it would have been better to decide on your next plan of action before checking that german beer is still up to standard.
More Good Luck! Grumpyoldman.
